Study types

Everyone learns differently. At Certikon, two proven learning formats are offered, both based on PECB’s official materials and certification standards. Whether flexible self-study or structured instructor-led training is preferred, participants gain access to recognized knowledge, exam preparation, and internationally valid certifications. The different study and learning approaches to certification fall into two main categories:

1. Independent study (self-study) – Learn at your own pace and when it fits your schedule.

2. Instructor-led training – Learn together with others, guided by a trainer and based on a structured schedule and in a class room setting.

Self-Study – Learn at Your Own Pace

Self-Study is for those who want complete freedom and are able to structure their own learning. Selected courses include e-learning video modules. This study format is the most flexible and cost-effective way to become certified. Study whenever it suits you and gain access to official PECB materials that guide you safely through the entire curriculum. You get access to:

  • Official PECB core course material with notes
  • Practice exams and sample questions
  • Case materials (for selected courses)
  • Online resources (supplementary material from PECB)
  • Access to PECB’s digital platform
  • Certikon offers ongoing webinars where questions can be asked

Self-Study is a perfect fit for busy professionals and anyone who prefers to learn at their own pace in an often hectic everyday life. The exam can be scheduled individually once there is full familiarity with the course material. Exam registration is carried out by the participant via the myPECB digital platform.

E-learning video modules are only available for selected PECB certifications and combine flexibility with structured digital teaching (se e-learning availability in courses overview). E-learning is ideal for those who want a guided digital experience without fixed meeting times and should be regarded as a supplement to the more fundamental course material.

Instructor-led Training – Learn with a Certified Instructor

Instructor‑led training is the classic form of teaching, where learning takes place together with others and is led by a PECB‑certified instructor. Certikon provides classroom training for a selection of PECB courses (se course overview). It provides structure, dialogue, feedback, and the opportunity to ask questions along the way. Instructor‑led training can be delivered in two formats.

The training takes place at a professional course venue and offers the most interactive learning experience, where participants join a larger or smaller group of course attendees. It includes:

  • Face‑to‑face teaching with a certified instructor
  • Physical course materials (where relevant)
  • Intensive learning days
  • Networking with other participants
  • Exercises, cases, and group work in the room
  • Exam preparation and personal feedback
  • Catering will also be provided during the course

Instructor‑led training is the best choice for teams, organizations, and participants who learn best in a physical environment. Classroom training supports better internalization of the material and helps integrate personal experience and competencies with the selected course content. Conversation, real‑life examples, and enriching discussions help assimilate (absorb) the material.

Certikon can also provide training within a venue of the customers choice or at the customers organisation.

The exam can be scheduled once there is full familiarity with the course material. Exam registration is carried out by the participant via the myPECB digital platform. It is recommended to take the exam within one week after the course has ended.
